There hath no temptation taken hold of you but such as is common to man. But God is faithful; He will not suffer you to be tempted beyond that which ye are able to bear, but with the temptation will also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
(I Corinthians 10:13)

Throughout our lives, we will experience a multitude of temptations. Temptations are used to test our faith. Devils tempt us in order to prove to God that our faith is weak. God allows us to be tempted in order for us to know and show our faith. God is righteous, so He would not let us experience a temptation that was impossible for us to overcome. However, Satan wants us to fail, so he will tempt us.

Therefore, it is imperative for us to realize that, when we are facing a difficult circumstance, we have God on our side and have the power to withstand and overcome these circumstances. Remember: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7). Allow God to share His wisdom for you to overcome the devil’s temptations.

To overcome the temptations, call on the Lord’s name for His help and guidance. In His name, we can also command the devils who cause the temptations to be casted away.

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13).

“And these signs shall follow them that believe: In My name shall they cast out devils…” (Mark 16:17).

The most dangerous and common temptations are sexual temptations. Sex is not supposed to be sinful. In fact, God created sex to be a pure relationship between a husband and his wife, not for random strangers; this gift has boundaries. However, Satan is cunning and uses God’s gift as a way to tempt us and bring us away from God. Our own lust can be the cause of our downfall if we are not careful. If we cannot control ourselves, our failure can lead us to fall for the temptation and distance ourselves from God. That is why we must realize to rely on God’s strength instead of our own.

Sexual urges outside of the bounds of marriage damage not only our own bodies, but others. Our body is God’s temple. Thus, we cannot allow unholy things or people to taint our body. Furthermore, the reason why sexual sins are the most dangerous sins is because of how highly acceptable it is in our society to commit sexual sins such as fornication or casual sex (excluding those of rape, necrophilia, bestiality, and others that are usually frowned upon and illegal).

If you want to give into lust or any other temptation, then God cannot do anything on your behalf because you already decided to sin.

But every man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin; and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” (James 1:14-15).

God is willing and more than happy to help you if you seek His strength. Call upon the name of the Lord when you feel stuck and are being tempted by Satan. Sometimes, you may not be able to tell if you are being tempted, so constantly ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Being able to live a life without sin is one of our greatest goals in order to be worthy for our holy inheritance. Thus, we must develop into strong and conscientious Christians in order to bring glory to the Lord, and we can do so by consistently resisting all temptations.
