“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”
Thanks to God’s blessings throughout my last school year, there are many things I am grateful for. For instance, earlier this summer, I graduated high school with a 3.9 GPA, and this fall, I am attending the same college as my sister. Although I was suddenly placed into a new, unfamiliar high school two years ago, God guided me throughout those years and assisted me in my studies so that I could be where I am today. It is all thanks to God that I have everything I need, so the purpose of this article is to praise and glorify Him for all that He has done for me.
One of the first things I want to thank God for is for blessing me with good grades throughout the school year, which allowed me to be a part of the National Honor Society (NHS) and the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS). NHS is an organization which honors the academic achievements of students who have at least a 95 average in their core classes. NTHS is similar, except they require high grades in classes related to careers and technology. Not only did God bless my grades in school, but He also allowed me to obtain 18 college credits through the Dual Credit program. With the blessings of God, I was able to graduate in the top 10% of my class, which consisted of 585 graduates.
Throughout my senior year, God has also blessed me by enabling me to obtain an officer position in the Technology Student Association (TSA) as a Sergeant at Arms. God had given me many good grades, trips, and memories throughout my last school year, more than I would have expected. There are even more blessings I am thankful for regarding school, but I will expand upon those blessings on the upcoming Thanksgiving article.
Finally, I want to thank God once more for providing my family and me with all that we need. Recently, through my relatives, God had unexpectedly given me many clothes and shoes to wear for school, which reminded me that God can provide for our needs before we even think of them. I also thank God for the family I have, who supported me while I studied.
“Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the Gentiles seek for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:31-33).
God has the ultimate power to give us all much more than we need and will do so if we have faith in Him. God has prepared me with everything I need for college, including grants and scholarships to pay for my tuition in full and any school related expenses, because I sought the Lord by praying to Him, reading His Word, and following His teachings. Just as God awarded Job with double of all his possessions for his faith, God will award us if we remain faithful to Him and give Him our trust.
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hewbrews 11:6).
All of the glory belongs to God, our Father, forever and ever! Amen!
